Stamford Schools have been an integral part of Stamford’s community since 1532 and steeped in history, dating back to the 16th century. Some parts of the school are even earlier, with the Chapel originally being part of the church of St Paul, and referenced by King John in 1200. With a strong emphasis firmly focused on preparing young people to lead happy and fulfilling lives, the school also has healthy rivalries with nearby Uppingham School, Oakham School and Oundle School.
Brave Agency was approached with a brief to completely redesign its digital presence to reflect this important, progressive and vibrant school. The brief was to create an innovative responsive site that truthfully expressed their excellent achievements and happy students with a need to be simple and informative for a wide range of audiences both in the UK and overseas. Information needed to be accessible to current and prospective parents, potential donors, the press, the local community and former pupils.

“Tony and his team had us focused engaged from the very first pitch they presented to us. Their whole process showed us they had the experience, knowledge and enthusiasm we needed to put new energy into our website. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Brave to others looking for an agency that is open, transparent and very diligent”
Dan Bates – Marketing Manager
The brief was carefully digested and our approach soon was realised in that we needed to consider the four schools, each with their own stakeholders wanting similar but different requirements. Thinking visually from the very start, and working together, we balance creativity, strategy and technology to build a beautiful online presence which had the feeling of life within its make-up. We created a premium level, high impact, feature-rich school website designed to communicate the unique values and vision of the Schools. Each of the schools needed access to a powerful website Content Management System (Bespoke WordPress CMS) that would need to be bursting with education-specific functionality with ease of use.
Building a Tailored CMS
By understanding the specific challenges that schools general face with regards to website administration and content management, Stamford Schools also needed to ensure we could plan and build a highly bespoke WordPress that would be accessed by multiple school staff. This custom-built content management system was built to be incredibly intuitive and lets all staff manage almost every aspect of the website without support from our designers or developers for general content update.
Brave’s commercial approach meant that we could hone in on many years of experience developing websites that drive tangible results. A school website can’t just look amazing, it needs to be technically planned out to rank and follow all SEO and UX best practices. We also needed to follow Ofsted’s advice and recommendations for school websites to ensure they provide good usability and clear structure for all who use it.
The End Solution
We’re proud to have created a bold and dynamic looking website that articulates Stamford School’s distinctive ethos and history. The site has tailored content blocks for content, custom landing pages and vast content management features, whilst adhering to strong brand guidelines.
We provided ongoing advice and support throughout the project process to ensure that the outcome would be the best possible website to show visitors exactly what the school can do for them. Then once live, we didn’t just disappear. Brave offered a range of support and training options, as well as ongoing SEO and Technical Support to ensure the site would maintain and grow thereafter in a proactive manner. We’re so proud of the end result and the response by the school and parents has been very positive.
